InspirED Hosts InspirED Summer Celebration Event to thank all involved in the InspirED partnership

The event brought together teachers, funders and staff from subscribing schools to celebrate everything inspirED has made possible over the past two years

On Tuesday 2nd June, some of Somerset’s finest young performers presented their work at a special event to celebrate the county’s most creative schools. Guests were treated to two incredible performances, one from Somerset Youth Dance Company and the other from the Huish Sixth drama group. Later in the evening Darryl Simpson from Castle School and Catherine Walker from South Petherton Junior School, presented work made at their school with InspirED over the last year. This was followed by inspirational speeches from them on how the project has helped their schools, they outlined the cost effectiveness of membership and described it as a developmental tool for students.

A combination of the incredible performances, exhibition of InspirED’s work with schools, the beautiful setting, delicious food from Kitchen at the Wharf and the mix of enthusiastic people made for a buzzing atmosphere. Guests included people from; Arts Council England, Somerset County Council, Somerset Association of Secondary Head teachers, as well as teachers from a variety of secondary, primary and special schools as well as the Mendip Pupil Referral Unit.

InspirED, a unique partnership between four award winning arts organisations; Somerset Art Works, Somerset Film, SPAEDA and Take Art, hosted its first Summer Celebration Event. InspirED provides professional creative arts opportunities to children and young people in schools across Somerset. Through InspirED over 15,000 children and young people have benefited from increased access to arts and culture.

It was all made possible by the following funders and organisations: Somerset’s Children and Young People Compact, Somerset Art Works, Somerset Film, Take Art, SPAEDA and Kitchen at the Wharf.
