Led by SPAEDA associate consultant Fiona Godfrey, this training day will offer aspiring, new and experienced art subject coordinators the opportunity to enhance their understanding of best practice, planning, progression and assessment in the primary art curriculum, as well as other aspects of the art subject coordinator role as appropriate.

The course will cover:
– Vision and policy
– Long and medium term planning
– Assessment in art
– Action planning
– Guidance on the progression of skills
– Resources and opportunities
– Working with artists and art works
– A practical art activity
– Discussion and sharing of ideas

Fiona Godfrey Approved smallFiona Godfrey has been a freelance consultant in the cultural and education sectors for over fifteen years. Fiona trained as a primary teacher and taught in schools in London and Bath before studying for an MA in Art Education at UCE in Birmingham. She then worked in gallery education for several years before setting up her freelance arts and education consultancy business in 1999. Clients have included the Clore Duffield Foundation, NESTA, engage (the national association for gallery education), QCA, the Arts Council Collection, the Southbank Centre and SPAEDA (Somerset Partnership Arts Education Agency). Alongside Fiona’s freelance work, she also worked for six years as adviser / inspector for the visual arts (primary phase) for Hampshire County Council.
